Updates so far.
ok, been a while...will keep it short but relevant!
Left the hell hole that is Memphis...never to return!!!
Nashville!...was ill...didn't do much here...on recovery did manage a trip to Lynchburg to Jack Daniels...these guys can teach Elvis how to do tourism!!...(full tour of distillery, completely free) though town itself a bit strange as it's a 'dry' county (no alcohol is sold!)....GOT ID'd in the next county buying Jack Daniels.
Winston Salem.....weather horrid...managed a poor Applebees, (staff just crap) hotel was fine, just had lots of problems with wifi (not connecting with vista)
Martinsville..Awesome Nascar Race!...much more than expected, got sun burnt, saw real trailer trash...and got ID'd again!!.
Washington DC...could go on forever about here...the place is quite amazing, clean, organised, lots and lots to do....will have to return for the masses of stuff we missed...this place probably needs a week!
Found a great Bar Brewery (Capitol Grill) visited a lot of the tourist attractions, missed museums due to time restraints. Luckily there for the Cherry Blossom Festival, quite a sight!
Atlantic City....Hmm....Incredible hotel...but generally if Blackpool had Casinos it would be just like this. Certainly Las Vegas' poor relative.
Genrally we have found that Americas social life is...Daytime and early evening dine out, Bar early after work (the majority of the country must drink and drive) Night clubs gone midnight. Unless there's and occasion (ie seeing a band, or going to a sporting event or a movie) there is not lots to do, and the streets are not the safest place to be after dark.
Newark NJ.. went to see the Devils play Tampa Bay lightning ice hockey...Net minder Martin Brodeur had accomplished his 552nd win, the most in NHL history, he was presented with lots of stuff including a 5ft Tiffany silver replica hockey stick!..Devils won 5-4, a good game with 2 fights!...$7.50 pint...£5.64!.. (Not like Toby Keith's in Nashville where it was $1.50 for a pint and a coke!)
Stayed in Robert Treat Best Western (previous guests include W Wilson, F D Roosevelt, H S Trueman and J F Kennedy...so yes it's quite a nice hotel.
Went into New York, visited WTC where they seem to have done bugger all and the police all appear to have big lunch and donut breaks and do nothing else!..50mph winds, literally pushed you down the street. Visited Pier 17, did all the tourist spots and shopped...(the Tiffany hockey stick set Kayte off, so we had to visit!)
Cant believe it's last day tomorrow.
