Amarillo.... Stayed in Travel lodge..all mod cons (no wifi as is per usual, they've not yes discovered vista in middle america)
Ate at Red Losbster after long drive, with much deserved 'Lobsterita'

Off to Oklahoma...now we're really tassting middle america...a family of four saying 'grace' at Arbys before their burgers!, also passed the biggest cross on the highway (Angel of the north size) and lots of billboards telling me 'god loves You'.

Howard Johnson Inn Oklahoma, did a bit of shopping, then off to RiverWind Casino for a look, (bit like a big gala bingo) returned as the weather closed in, almighty storms set in.
Went to the biker bar across from the hotel and watched the thunder.

Following morning...playing with guns!!!...Tons of fun, both of us a good shot!.. (want to do this again)

Road to Little Rock, wetaher turned again....stayed in great cheap motel (with laundry!)...went to Applebees.....staff too laid back for their own good (ie doing nothin'), but food good.

Left little Rock, went to Memphis.....note to self....do not return!!...this places makes Radford look like The Park!...Graceland a big tourist attraction (and subsequuent rip off)...great for big fans, planes and cars pretty cool.
Motel scary, so binned it and drove to Mississippi to Tunica and stayed at Ballys casino resort instead! (cheaper than scary motel in beirut), did a few other casinos, (weather pretty treacherous, managed to miss the tornado, )

Left today to Nashville, got tickets for tonights ice hockey (Sharks v Predators) should be a ggod agme Go Sharks!!

Almost in Texas

On Route (66!) found amazing casino, unluckily we wont be there this evening when they give away a Harley Davidson. Having wireless problems, will post pics as soon as i get a good connection

Holbrook+Wig Wam

Off to Holbrook!....see wigwam!...also in shop found out how we are being screwed by Ben & Jerrys...in England we dont have half the flavours...so had Creme brulee flavour..amazing!
Left wig Wam early (and sadly) 8 hour drive to Amarillo....

Phoenix

Beautiful, amazing drive through the Sonera (I think) 6500 feet up, through national parks.
Got to phoenix...not the most welcoming city upon arrival . Went to roadrunners ice hockey game, also hard rock cafe and Alice Coopers Town, (last to leave so made up for being lightweights earlier in the week) Bar wicked, staff friendly, beer cold!
Next day Baseballand shopping mall! (hugest sandwich!!) Great seats at baseball, Oakland v Seattle but sooooo hot (about 100 degrees!!) made about 5 innings before finding shade and shandy!

Palm Springs

Arrived early evening, weather stunning. Walked down into main area, and streets closed for street fair..lots of vendors, lots of great food (smelling only at this point) had an awesom e mexican for dinner, finished off with Mr hagars Cabo Wabo tequila. Drifted into a casino, just like Vegas!
Hotel lovely, too tired for hot tub!!

Got up and went to the cable car to the top of the mountain...from sun at the bottom to snow at the top 8500 feet up. Awesome views including the biggest wind farm i’ve ever seen.

Left Palm Springs went to Phoenix...

The fake sheep

Day 2

Well hello again, so I'm about a day behind at the moment, forgive me it's all a bit of a blur as you can imagine. We started the day by going to down to get a ferry to Alcatraz, great idea but when the travel guides tell you to book in advance, listen to them!! could not get a trip till Thursday, not much use when 700 miles away! Anyhow all not lost, had the most amazing breakfast at Boudin where they make the best sourdough bread in San Francisco.
Took a drive over the Golden Gate bridge and up to the Napa valley, now this is prime wine country, stunning scenery, past endless vineyards and winery's. our destination was Domaine Caneros the California branch of Taittinger Champagne. Arrived early, before the masses, had a private Tour with Al our guide. Tasted a few, bought a few. Was slightly bemused by the opposite filed which appeared to have extremely large n0n-moving sheep! (thought we'd tried one too many until we were told it was an art museum!!..(when fake sheep became art I don't know!!, Apparently if the sheep are talking to each other that's 0k, when they started talking to you then it's time to go home!).
Off to the freeway and on to Oakland, now this is for me, my two favourite Oakland teams, the Raiders and A's at McAffee stadium, hold on though, it was closed! and no amount of sneaking in was going to help. So, back on the freeway and down to San Jose, yes we do know the way, hmm. This was more like it, home of the Sharks and the shop was open, are you listening Oakland. Back to S.F. had a peaceful walk along the bay, stopping to stand on the beach just to say we started at the pacific ocean. Then took a classic S.F. mode of transport, the tram, this was pretty cool and much easier to climb those hills. Wandered around Chinatown, then had a Chinese, now I'm not one to complain, but let me explain, we ordered food and drink, not cheep, no rice included, very pushy staff, felt quite rushed, then the bill, $61 this included 20% gratuity, thanks for asking! it was like being back in old Nottingham, thought we had encountered Robin Hood.
...to be continued...
